Borna – .NET, React, Microsoft Azure
Borna is a senior backend engineer with over six years of experience, specializing in .NET, C#, and Azure for fintech, compliance, and enterprise systems. He has led architecture and delivery of mission-critical services, acted as interim CTO, and demonstrated strong ownership across backend, infrastructure, and some frontend (React/Angular) work. Screenings confirm his strengths in architecture, messaging, DevOps, and direct client communication, with clear, honest self-assessment and sound design reasoning. He is best suited for backend-focused or full-stack roles where backend is primary.

Software Engineer (Desktop platform)
Desktop trading platform for retail and professional traders, operating as a router across multiple brokers and market data providers. Traders connect several accounts and place and monitor orders from a single interface, with the platform keeping local state synchronized against the third-party order management systems that hold authoritative positions.
- Worked on the desktop team with a focus on the broker synchronization layer, an event-driven system reconciling trading state across concurrent broker and data connections.
- Diagnosed and resolved position-state divergence, where locally tracked positions drifted from the authoritative state reported by third-party OMS providers such as Rithmic. This class of defect misrepresents trader exposure when trading multiple accounts at once, so correctness mattered more than throughput.
- Built a CLI shipped alongside the desktop application for automated testing and trade execution, exercising the same synchronization paths the platform relies on in production.
- Improved reliability of existing sync behavior through targeted testing against live market conditions, where failures are difficult to reproduce on demand.
Software Engineer
Proprietary trading firm running a funded-trader model, where the platform serves thousands of active trading accounts and the firm needs accurate, independent measurement of trader performance. The core engineering effort was replacing a third-party execution layer with an in-house order management system, giving the firm control over execution, instrument coverage, and the analytics built on top of its own order flow.
- Owned the architectural migration of the trade execution service from Rithmic to a custom in-house OMS, delivered with no downtime at cutover on a system where an outage means positions cannot be managed.
- Extended the platform to support new asset classes and trading models, defining the abstractions that made additional instrument types tractable rather than bespoke each time.
- Built a benchmarking and trade-flagging engine covering MAE and hedging detection, which became the firm's system of record for evaluating trader strategy performance.
- Worked across a mission-critical fintech system where correctness under live market conditions set the pace, balancing delivery against the cost of getting execution wrong.
Tech lead
A regulatory compliance platform helping companies manage multiple regulatory frameworks and ISO standards (GDPR, NIS2, EU AI Act, ESG reporting) without hiring specialists for each one. It turns requirements into assigned tasks with owners, evidence, and sign-off, giving organizations a single auditable system of record instead of scattered spreadsheets and consultants. A Norwegian company serving enterprise customers, built on a data model designed to support new frameworks over time.
- Architected the MVP end to end — backend services, frontend, data model, cloud infrastructure, deployment pipeline — and built the version that secured the company's venture funding.
- Designed the underlying data model so that additional regulatory frameworks build on the same foundation rather than requiring bespoke implementation per regulation, which is the core extensibility requirement of the product.
- Built the platform against the auditability constraints the domain demands, where every action, owner, and approval has to be traceable for management and board reporting.
- Translated stakeholder and investor requirements into technical scope, making build-versus-defer calls to reach launch on a startup timeline.
- Owned infrastructure and platform decisions from the MVP through launch and the product's first customer deployments.
- Mentored junior developers joining the project and established the working practices they build against.
Senior Software Engineer
Web-to-mobile messaging platform for business customers, combining campaign and subscriber administration with an SMS commerce layer. Customers define products in the platform, and end users purchase them by texting keywords to dedicated mobile numbers. Built on cloud communication provider APIs with low-code backend configuration, allowing customer-specific message flows to be assembled without a bespoke build for each client.
- Delivered the platform from development through production rollout, integrating cloud communication APIs with a low-code backend configuration layer.
- Built administration tooling for managing message flows, products, and subscriber interactions.
- Implemented the keyword-to-purchase mechanism connecting inbound SMS to product definitions and order handling.
- Worked in a rapid prototyping and agile feedback loop with stakeholders, where the configuration-driven approach shortened the cycle between a requested change and something a client could try.
Software Engineer
Enterprise social platform for McDonald's, built on Meta Workplace. The client's global headcount exceeded what a single Workplace instance could support, so the project delivered a custom Azure backend unifying multiple instances into one coherent system. Instances were arranged in a two-level tree, with a main instance distributing content to subscriber instances, so that employees experienced a single organization despite the underlying split. Delivered by a consultancy as a long-running engagement.
- Implemented end-to-end content replication across the instance tree, using Azure Functions triggered by Meta Workplace webhooks to propagate content from the main instance to subscribers as it was created and changed.
- Handled nested content, where replicated items reference other items, by modelling the content relationships as a graph and resolving dependency order during replication rather than assuming a flat set of posts.
- Built deeplink rewriting so that links pointing at content on one instance are remapped to the corresponding item on the target instance, keeping cross-references valid after replication instead of pointing users into an instance they cannot reach.
- Used Redis caching over the instance and content mappings to keep replication responsive under webhook-driven load, where the same lookups recur constantly across events.
- Owned 11 services and the shared data libraries of the unifying backend, inheriting the full service estate and taking responsibility for its ongoing evolution rather than a single feature area.
- Maintained the shared libraries consumed by two other engineering teams, which made internal API stability and backward compatibility a first-order concern.
Software Engineer
Employee benefit system giving employees access to sports and fitness facilities through their employer, operating across multiple European countries. The platform serves three groups: employers administering benefit programs, facility operators handling entry, and employees using mobile apps to check in at participating locations.
- Built backend APIs serving both the web administration tooling and the mobile applications.
- Developed administration tooling for managing employers, facilities, and employee access.
- Contributed to the mobile applications employees use for facility access.
Software Engineer
In-house document automation service that generates finished PDFs from Word templates on demand. Non-technical users configure templates and field mappings through an administration interface, and the service renders populated documents at request time, replacing manual document preparation.
- Designed and built the generation engine as an event-driven pipeline, using graph-based resolution over OpenXML to handle templates whose sections and fields depend on one another.
- Built the administration interface that lets non-developers define templates and field mappings, removing the need for engineering involvement each time a new document type is added.
