Geovanni – AWS, Typescript, React

Geovanni is a Senior Front-End and Mobile Engineer with 11 years of commercial experience across construction tech, legal AI, cloud security, and retail. His core stack is React, TypeScript, React Native, and Node.js on AWS, with GraphQL and Next.js on AWS. At a legal-AI startup, he designed a server-driven form architecture that scaled the product from 4 to 50+ document types and cut the time to add a new one from weeks to hours. The candidate has a track record of taking messy legacy systems (a Delphi POS for 100+ stores, flaky Gemini invoice scanning, a slow pseudo-monorepo) and owning them end-to-end. Geovanni has also led teams and client communication as a tech lead.

Experience Highlights

Senior Fullstack Engineer

Project Overview

A material management platform for US construction companies, with a built-in B2B marketplace connecting buyers and suppliers. Contractors manage materials, orders and supplier invoices in one place instead of across email, paper and separate systems. The platform turns supplier invoices into structured data using an LLM (Gemini). It also syncs with client systems over both REST and EDI. The marketplace runs on a product-matching engine that the catalog depends on.

Responsibilities:
  • Rebuilt AI invoice scanning as a standalone Gemini service, scaled on Kubernetes. Scan time went from ~3 minutes to under 1 minute, and the failure rate dropped from ~10% to near zero.
  • Unified scattered queue-based and direct-API call paths into one entry point, adding retries, a fixed seed, top-k tuning, Gemini’s native JSON schema and per-client prompts. Moved all clients off the legacy Azure custom model.
  • Rewrote the marketplace’s product-matching core to unblock new catalog features, keeping REST and EDI client integrations running side by side.
  • Introduced a Turborepo + pnpm monorepo and untangled path aliases and circular imports. Cut TypeScript builds from ~1 minute to 5 seconds and sped up CI with caching.
  • Migrated a legacy GraphQL service from Nexus to Pothos in phases with zero downtime.
  • Removed unneeded server-side rendering from the Next.js front end to simplify it toward a plain SPA. Upgraded Storybook and helped organise the component library.

Project Overview

An AI product for legal teams. A lawyer answers a guided set of questions and gets back a finished legal filing, such as a petition or a reply. Before the redesign, each document type was a hardcoded form, so the catalog was stuck at about four filing types. The platform now generates forms from data, so new filing types and their variations can be added without new front-end code.

Responsibilities:
  • Designed a server-driven UI architecture that defines forms as data. This scaled the product from 4 to 50+ document types and cut the time to add one from weeks to hours.
  • Owned the initiative end-to-end as the first senior engineer besides the founders: identified stakeholders, modelled the document taxonomy (categories and presets) with the product owner and lawyers, and shaped the form structure with design.
  • Built a generic form system over WebSockets on Lambda, fixing the disconnects and timeouts that were blocking the product.
  • Moved the backend from SST to Hono, removing a hard limit on API routes and adding typed validation and stronger authentication.
  • Led the front-end migration from webpack to Vite, taking dev refresh from ~30 seconds to near-instant. Also fixed login and session issues affecting users.
  • Wrote tech specs for new products, including a WhatsApp channel that another team picked up and built.

Project Overview

Web and mobile products built for startup and SMB clients of a software house, each delivered from initial spec to app store release.

Responsibilities:
  • Led client projects end-to-end: tech specs, project setup, framework selection (React / React Native / Flutter), and architecture decisions.
  • Shipped at least two mobile apps to the App Store and Google Play, owning TestFlight and store submissions.
  • Ran direct client communication, including three-way calls with clients and their customers, and synced with design.
  • Led and unblocked a team of mostly junior and mid-level engineers and interns, writing the hardest parts himself when deadlines were at risk.
  • Migrated a React Native codebase from class components to hooks to improve maintainability and delivery speed.

Project Overview

A point-of-sale system for a Brazilian retail chain with 100+ stores. It replaced a legacy on-premise Delphi POS. The app runs on Android payment terminals, handles receipt and label printing, and talks to each Brazilian state’s fiscal system. Its cloud backend connects physical and online stores, so stock and sales data live in one system instead of two.

Responsibilities:
  • Built the new React Native POS from scratch and migrated 100+ stores from the legacy Delphi system to an AWS cloud backend, the company’s first move off on-premise infrastructure.
  • Set up over-the-air JS updates with CodePush from CI. Routine releases no longer went through the ~1-week payment-terminal app store approval and manual updates in each store.
  • Built a Node.js + PostgreSQL service on Elastic Beanstalk that integrates state fiscal systems and unifies stock and sales across online and physical stores.
  • Built a C# Windows background service exposed over REST that drives receipt printers, A4 transport documents, shipping labels and São Paulo’s SAT fiscal device.
  • Fixed performance on low-end Android terminals under all-day in-store use.
