A LegalTech SaaS startup, at its earliest stages. It provides specialized tools for intellectual property cost forecasting, portfolio analysis, and decision automation. The product helped enterprise customers process large patent and trademark portfolios, generate multi-year financial forecasts, automate policy-based decisions, and export complex reports. I worked mainly on Python/Django backend services, REST APIs, PostgreSQL data modeling and optimization, Celery background jobs, AWS-integrated workflows, authentication, testing, and production delivery.

• Built core Python/Django backend services for portfolio forecasting and financial planning, enabling enterprise customers to process large IP datasets, generate multi-year cost projections, and support budget and renewal decisions.
• Designed Celery-based background processing workflows for large portfolio imports, forecast generation, report exports, and long-running calculations, with progress tracking and resilient handling of heavy workloads that could not run safely inside synchronous HTTP requests.
• Designed a scalable multi-tenant architecture supporting concurrent datasets per organization, with background processing, real-time progress tracking, and per-tenant configuration — while maintaining strong query performance;
• Designed and implemented Django REST Framework APIs for external integrations, including token-based authentication, secure access patterns, error handling, data validation, and endpoints used to connect Prokurio workflows with external systems.
• Shipped an AI-assisted analytics capability by connecting PandasAI and the OpenAI API to structured portfolio forecast datasets, allowing users to ask natural-language questions over projected cost data.
• Integrated third-party services, including Stripe (payments), and external data pipelines, ensuring reliable data ingestion, error handling, and system resilience;
• Implemented enterprise authentication supporting Microsoft Entra ID and generic OIDC providers, invite-based onboarding, and secure deep-link access;
• Supported cloud and delivery workflows by configuring AWS S3 usage, debugging CI/CD deployment failures, adjusting pipeline steps such as static asset handling, and maintaining Docker/Docker Compose setups for deployment and local development.
• Delivered end-to-end features across backend and frontend, contributing 400+ merged PRs over 3 years with consistent weekly releases;
• Improved system performance by eliminating N+1 queries, offloading heavy computations to async workers, and optimizing data visualizations for datasets with 10k+ records;
• Built a reporting system supporting PDF, Word, and Excel outputs with background generation, progress tracking, and support for complex nested data.
• Created unit tests for APIs, forecasting logic, CRUD workflows, and portfolio processing, added Selenium integration tests for web flows, and frequently reviewed code from a mid-level developer to maintain quality across weekly releases.

An educative SaaS used by teachers and students from schools in the US. Its mission is to improve the reading and comprehension of students by providing teachers with a way to assign lectures, assignments, and graduation of assigned tasks. It implements some of the IMS standards (like OneRoster and LTI) for the integration, communication, and interchange of data with other applications of the ed-tech industry like Canvas, Clever, Google Classroom, etc.

• Managed validation and sanitation of addresses of newly registered users in a background overnight process;
• Optimized a core data synchronization pipeline handling millions of records from external systems (OneRoster specification), significantly reducing processing time and enabling support for larger customer accounts.
• Documented and discussed alternative approaches for solving issues or developing features with team members;
• Upgraded the implementation of the LTI standard used to integrate with external systems by sending content to be displayed in the external system;
• Improved user matching and SSO logic, increasing data accuracy while ensuring consistency across integrated systems;
• Implemented PII data masking workflows to safely replicate production data for testing environments, improving development efficiency while maintaining compliance;
• Wrote unit tests and a test tool for testing a specific feature;

Gustavo participated in developing an enterprise system to help support business operations, specifically the manufacturing/repair process of different kinds of devices. The main feature of the system was to define a flow (group of steps, tests, and repairs) that devices need to go through based on the device's condition and clients' needs and keep track of where devices are and will go from the moment they arrive until they are shipped. The system was composed of a desktop application that allows communication with the devices, a web API that contains the business logic used by the desktop client, and a web application for report generation, inventory management, and other tasks.

Contributed to the development of enterprise systems supporting device manufacturing, repair workflows, inventory tracking, shipping, and reverse logistics operations.

Worked across backend, frontend, deployment, and operational tooling, contributing to workflow automation, Android device management, production support, and reporting features in AWS and Azure environments.

• Developed and maintained a system for managing device repair workflows, including REST APIs, desktop applications, inventory tracking, integrations with external services, and reporting tools that improved visibility over device lifecycle and inventory management;
• Reduced operational costs and processing time by ~80% by developing a system for parallel APK installation across multiple Android devices;
• Designed configurable workflows to adapt device processing flows to customer-specific requirements;
• Wrote configuration scripts in SQL for defining flows;
• Managed AWS deployment environments and resolved production issues to ensure operational stability;
• Wrote printing labels using ZPL language;
• Redesigned desktop application to have a responsive UI;
• Created reports using Jasper Reports.

One of the top health insurance companies in the Dominican Republic. The project was one of the most important in the company. It was aimed to replace the legacy core application used for the main business processes like reimbursement, health coverage, authorizations for medical procedures, and policy issuance.

• Contributed to the development of a core enterprise system handling insurance workflows, including reimbursements and policy management;
• Implemented backend and frontend features using Java (Spring MVC) and JavaScript, improving system reliability and usability.

The company develops software for the fintech industry. They have products for helping commercial banks handle their backend and front-end office processes (opening client accounts, managing transactions, etc.) and offering Internet and mobile banking experiences to their clients.

• Developed web and mobile features for banking applications, including account management, currency conversion, and remote check deposit.

It was a government system used in two institutions to control the expedition of firearm licenses. The application consisted of a set of steps users had to perform in each workstation. This was controlled by a flow of stages according to the process the firearm owner was going to do (renew, new user, etc.). The system consisted of several applications:

• Web app to keep track of the steps where the firearm/user is at and to capture basic information about the user and the firearm.
• Desktop app to capture the user's picture, hand-written signature, and fingerprints. This app is integrated with an external system used to link the user's fingerprints with a 3d scanned model of the fired bullet from his weapon.
• Windows and Web service that sends the captured data to the system in the second institution.
• The application in the second institution performs a series of validation regarding the criminal and psychological record and taxes payments and ends up with the physical license emission.

• Reduced a background processing task from ~3 hours to under 10 minutes by replacing inefficient Entity Framework logic with batch-oriented SQL stored procedures;
• Automated cross-system data migration workflows using Windows and web services, reducing processing delays from several hours to under one hour;
• Developed interactive UI features for weapon inspection and data entry using drag-and-drop interactions and HTML image maps;
• Participated in integrations involving fingerprint capture, handwritten signatures, and biometric validation workflows.
