Matej – Golang, Kubernetes, Bare metal provisioning
Matej is a Senior Back-End Engineer with 20 years of experience spanning payments, private cloud infrastructure, distributed storage, and IoT, including 12 years with Go. At one of the companies, he led the team that built and operated the private cloud serving 50% of the UK Faster Payments market with a 99.99% SLO, tripling node capacity through hardware-lifecycle automation. Matej treats infrastructure as a product for other engineering teams, starts by clarifying the underlying business problem, and ships with structured, verified AI-assisted workflows!

Senior Back-End Engineer
An AI-driven development pipeline for a utility-sector company whose core platform had parts no one had touched in over eight years. It discovers, documents and tracks legacy components and then drives their migration through staged, agent-based workflows with built-in verification. The goal is to modernise the platform without stopping day-to-day operations.
- Built a project-specific agentic coding “factory” on existing harnesses (Claude Code, OpenCode, pi). It drives discovery and tracking for migrating legacy components that had gone untouched for 8+ years.
- Designed staged workflows with independent verification, security and design review steps, and human checkpoints, putting correctness ahead of raw speed.
Senior Back-End Engineer
A new payment-processing platform for the UK market that connects a bank’s core ledger to payment schemes and external partners. It lets the bank initiate, route and reconcile payments through a single hub instead of point-to-point integrations. The product is being built from scratch under strict regulatory and scheme requirements.
- Building the payments hub on top of the banking ledger with LLM-assisted development workflows, with staged verification, security and design checks, and human review.
- Reviewing draft functionality against UK payment-processing requirements and turning gaps into concrete scenarios for engineering, product and external partners.
- Driving requirements discovery without a dedicated product owner, using lightweight process documents to align stakeholders before implementation.
Senior Software Engineer
A payouts product for the Australian market that lets merchants send payments directly to customers and partners. It extends an existing pay-in platform with outbound payments, using an event-driven design to process and track every payout reliably.
- Engineered and delivered the Australian Payouts product end-to-end with a fully LLM-agentic development approach, opening a new revenue stream for the company.
- Designed the Kafka-based event-driven flows for payout initiation, status tracking and partner integration.
Senior Software Engineer
A set of reusable modules for validating and sanitising payment messages inside a multi-tenant, multi-product microservice platform. Product teams can apply per-tenant and per-scheme rules quickly instead of hard-coding validation in each service.
- Engineered the modular validation and sanitisation layer, unblocking a high-value Tier-1 bank integration.
- Integrated the modules into the multi-tenant, multi-product microservice architecture.
Lead Engineer
A private cloud spanning bare metal, virtual machines and Kubernetes. It runs a payment platform connected to the UK Faster Payments scheme and is offered as an internal product to other engineering teams. The platform runs real-time payments under a strict 99.99% availability target.
- Led the team that built and ran the private cloud on all layers. It tripled node capacity and enabled capture of 50% of the UK Faster Payments market at a 99.99% SLO.
- Automated the full hardware lifecycle, including remote installation and BIOS/firmware updates, replacing manual rollouts.
- Introduced “Project vs. Ops” squad rotations to balance delivery with operational stability.
- Acted as primary technical liaison for engineering, Infosec and external partners.
Tech Lead / Head of Zagreb Office
An IoT platform that connects medical devices used by patients at home to healthcare providers, sending measurements securely without patient setup. It targets European healthcare organisations running remote-monitoring programmes.
- Established the Zagreb development office, owning hiring and logistics.
- Designed and built the IoT platform and integrated new medical device models, securing successful pilot bids with European healthcare organisations.
