Responsibilities:

Achievements:

  • Built a custom Gradle plugin that managed application dependencies based on application configuration (f.e. include Zoom library or not), with code and resources generation;
  • Created a framework that interpreted JSON data from the server into view hierarchies;
  • Created a framework that interpreted custom action commands from JSON into actual actions in the app;
  • Created a custom HTML editor similar to TinyMCE but with support of an in-house HTML alternative;
  • Integrated WebRTC;
  • Created a companion app for Samsung Gear wearables on Tizen OS (to measure various health data);
  • Migrated from Realm to SQLite (RoomDB);
  • Migrated from RxJava to Kotlin coroutines;
  • Refactoring of legacy code.

Project Overview

Tribu is a platform for volunteering. The user simply logs into available organizations, searches for volunteering opportunities, applies for them, and then reports the progress in volunteering.

The product is mostly used in schools in Israel, but also has plans to expand to colleges in the US.

Responsibilities:

Achievements:

  • Refactored all of the legacy code and implemented Kotlin;
  • Led a team of 4 Android developers;
  • Covered the app with unit tests;
  • Implemented all necessary security measures for the project to be accepted by Israeli governmental organizations (the application passed an independent security audit);
  • Polished the app to 99.9% crash-free sessions;
  • Implemented complex custom views and animations;
  • Optimized performance so that ANRs were almost gone;
  • Introduced coding review practice to the team;
  • Successfully delivered the project to the client.

Switchback is a geo-targeted social networking app that enables people to create meaningful relationships during their daily commute.

Joseph was a solo Android developer on this project. Developed the Android app from scratch and successfully delivered it to the client.

  • Location tracking when commuting to identify users who use the same route;
  • User matching based on interests;
  • Chat;
  • Local events suggestions based on interests.

  • Created the main app architecture (VIPER);
  • Developed all of the main features;
  • Integrated JPush - alternative push notifications service, because the application should work in China, where there are no Google services;
  • Worked closely with the client, the UI/UX team, and the backend team to deliver the best solutions;
  • Developed a fast and responsive chat.

Project Overview

OzVision is a Cloud-Based Video service for Security and Home Automation - Cloud recording of Video & IoT Devices (permanently closed, so the website is offline. I've included a link to Crunchbase).

Responsibilities:

Achievements:

  • Implemented OzVision's in-house JNI library for opening and closing media streams;
  • Worked with Android's media player to display the live feed and recorded videos from the server;
  • Implemented API calls with OzVision's servers with additional encryption of request payloads;
  • Implemented designs provided by UI/UX team.
