Nick – Python, React, AWS
Strong full-stack engineer with deep Python/Django backend expertise and solid React/TypeScript experience, currently operating at a tech lead level in a large pharma environment. He has end-to-end ownership experience, including building and scaling a production web platform for biotech tracking, leading key architectural decisions (CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, data architecture), and acting as the go-to technical stakeholder across the company. Importantly, he has experience in highly regulated industries, making him a strong fit for compliance-heavy environments such as nuclear energy.
He combines startup and enterprise experience, with a track record of solving real-world constraints through pragmatic, scalable solutions and strong product thinking. Comfortable working autonomously, he brings a builder mindset along with emerging leadership capabilities, making him effective in early-stage, ownership-driven environments.

Lead Software Engineer
An internal tracking system for one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, and the largest private one.
Nick designed tracker systems to meet demand of several groups of scientists. Each tracker is used by each team, which can create "requests" with metadata related to their area of work. Teams can move requests between views in the tracker, from the "Planner" view to the "Weeks/Months" view. These tools are collaborative spaces where team members can comment on requests, upload attachments, etc.
- Created front-end and back-end for three tracking systems.
- Created better UI/UX for three different tracker systems to track workflows across multiple teams, and delivered an enjoyable, clutter-free user experience.
- Connected the trackers to external systems such as the department's LIMS system, pulling in and updating biological measurement data to offer real-time analysis/tracking of reagents, DNA, etc used.
Lead Software Engineer
An automated shipping tool for one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, and the largest private one.
Nick developed an application to automate scientists' workflows for ordering reagents from external vendors or shipping reagents worldwide to other parts of the company.
- Created a centralized hub for users to create shipping requests using data pulled in from their LIMS system or custom input.
- Created an "admin" view where power-users can approve/deny requests, wrote software to automatically generate the required Word and Excel documents.
- Created a dashboard where one can visualize shipments submitted through the app and where they get delivered worldwide (Google Maps integration).
- Created front-end and back-end architecture, API routes, and front-end views for the project.
- Seamlessly integrated Google Maps and Google API to construct a visually pleasing and detailed shipment dashboard.
- Debugged a complicated data schema, reverted to JSON-based document storage instead of traditional SQL schemas to meet the demand of having flexible data structures and inputs.
- Went through several rounds of feedback, pushing the app from no use to now having over 100 shipments placed through the app.
Software Engineer
A workflow tool for the scientists of one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, and the largest private one. It allows scientists to fast-track DNA ordering for research and development. As a result, the time for this workflow was reduced from 3 hours to 10 minutes.
- Reverse-engineered a complicated in-silico cloning algorithm from an internal laboratory management system API.
- Connected the laboratory management system completely to the web application I helped design.
- Architected and developed the frontend and backend for the tool/project. Began the project from scratch and carried it through end-to-end.
- Responsible for the core algorithms and strategies used to make the tool operate efficiently.
- Saved hours of manual work done by scientists by developing this project.
- Debugged challenging external API integrations.
Software Engineer
A suite of web-based platforms for DNA and RNA sequence design, analysis, and ordering within the startup in the biotech industry. The systems enabled scientists to design and visualize sequences, assess manufacturability and risk factors, optimize constructs, and order DNA/RNA from external vendors. The platforms also supported large-scale research initiatives, including a multi-year public health grant focused on RNA construct design and standardization of manufacturing processes.
- Built end-to-end features across multiple platforms using React, Nest.js, Prisma, and MongoDB.
- Developed interactive sequence visualization tools and workflows for DNA/RNA design and analysis.
- Implemented pipelines for uploading sequences (FASTA, GenBank), running optimization algorithms, scoring DNA risk, and generating manufacturable constructs.
- Designed and maintained backend services for business logic, including DNA ordering, construct design, and asynchronous task processing.
- Integrated third-party APIs (e.g., DNA synthesis providers) to enable seamless ordering workflows.
- Contributed to system architecture for scalable, multi-product platforms, including a grant-funded RNA research application.
- Implemented authentication and authorization using Auth0.
- Designed and documented REST APIs using Swagger UI to improve developer usability and integration.
- Managed database schemas and relationships using Prisma ORM and MongoDB, including data seeding and migration scripts.
