Accomplishments:

• Created geohashing microservice which implemented quadtrees
• Created authentication microservice and kept two databases in sync

The product's mission is to collect and redistribute all sorts of questions related to the national exams under one roof.

Accomplishments:

• Created project specifications as the client did not have a technical background
• Hired a freelance agency to take care of the front-end and oversaw them
• Configured AWS services (RDS, EC2, Route 53)
• Extracted and restructured data from unstructured PDF files
• Handled security

A well-known website across the country for announcing tech-related events, mostly hackathons and ideathons. It has been the first result in several search engines for the last few years.

Accomplishments:

• Migrated all events from legacy databases and made them available in the current platform
• Built a relational database schema and optimized it to match the excessive needs
• Built an admin panel to make it easy for the editors to enter new events
• Built a blogging back-end
• Configured all servers including database servers
• Handled the overall development-staging-production workflow
• Managed a 99.9% percent uptime for the last two years

A website to announce new events in literature. It gets almost 2 million users every month, mostly for being so up-to-date. The feature Ömer worked on was to post new events to social media sites via customized bots and schedulers and to parse the markdown data for future use as this project had a somewhat different type of data storage.

During the first month of the COVID19 pandemic, a client proposed to develop such an application to collect related data in one place, collect symptomatic data through surveys in a mobile application and deliver the news. Ömer built the cross-platform Corona Tracker application (web, ios, android).

• Made a web scraper service to actively collect news data
• Made another web scraper service to collect pandemic-related data from trusted sources
• Developed a mobile application to display real-time data using firestore, and to collect symptomatic data through optional surveys
• Developed a heatmap of high-risk areas according to the pandemic related data
• Made an optional feature to warn users as they get closer to high-risk areas
• Made a backend server to handle the mobile application

A project to unpack and visualize Instagram's data dumps delivered on demand. These data dumps are compressed JSON files and this program acts as a standalone offline clone of Instagram to let you access all of your recorded data.

Accomplishments:

• Unpacked, validate, and normalize data records
• Built Instagram clone using common CSS frameworks
• Populated an offline Instagram clone with the processed data
• Indexed those records to let users easily do searches

A developer's project during high-school years of Ömer for Middle East Technical University's Autonomous UAV competition. He managed to acquire a drone piloting license, developed the autonomous flight algorithm, and participated in that event.

Accomplishments:

• Coded a custom firmware for the flight controller

• Made sure the drone does not need the ground control system to fly on its own
