Oriol – Typescript, Node.js, JavaScript
Oriol is a staff-level backend engineer with 17 years of experience, specializing in Java, Spring, Node.js, and TypeScript for distributed systems. He demonstrates strong architectural knowledge, product focus, and practical reliability strategies, with hands-on experience in cloud migration and cross-team collaboration. Communication and proactivity are evident, though some gaps exist in advanced distributed consistency and recent hands-on work with Node.js and AWS.

Staff Engineer
A fast-growing dropshipping e-commerce company in the Middle East, working in a cash-on-delivery market. Every order had to be confirmed before shipping, a process that used to depend on a large call center team. The platform evolved from a monolith into event-driven domain services and added automated, AI-powered order confirmation through WhatsApp.
- Automated 25% of all order confirmations by designing and building an end-to-end WhatsApp conversational system for a cash-on-delivery market.
- Added another 8–10% of automated confirmations with an AI-driven flow that validates addresses against the customer’s previous orders, removing call-center work for those orders.
- Led the breakup of the monolith into domain-aligned, event-driven services, which made it possible to release each domain on its own, isolated faults between services, and sped up development.
- Drove the technical roadmap and architecture decisions for a 10–15 person engineering team.
- Turned business requirements into technical RFCs and development plans together with product and business stakeholders, using DDD to keep the domain language aligned.
- Formalized the team’s DDD conventions (use cases, domain events, naming) into shared specs used across engineering.
- Moved conversational use cases from YAML-driven to database-driven configuration, so flows are easier to change and scale.
Staff Engineer
A fast-growing e-commerce scale-up serving the Middle East, working in a cash-on-delivery market where every order had to be confirmed by a call-center team, while the platform’s monolith slowed releases. Oriol led the move to domain-aligned, event-driven services (Kotlin, TypeScript/Node.js, Apache Pulsar, PostgreSQL, MongoDB on Kubernetes across AWS and GCP). He also built an automated WhatsApp order-confirmation system with LLM-powered flows and introduced AI-first delivery to the team. The bot confirms 25% of all orders with no human involved, and an AI address-validation flow adds another 8–10%. Together they automate roughly half of all confirmed orders.
- Drove the technical roadmap and architecture decisions for a 10–15 person engineering team.
- Partnered with product and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical RFCs and development plans, using DDD to align domain language between business and engineering.
- Led the breakup of the initial monolith into domain-aligned services with event-driven communication, enabling independent release cycles per domain, fault isolation between services, and faster development through smaller, simpler services.
- Formalized the team’s DDD conventions into shared specifications used across the engineering team.
- Designed and built the end-to-end order confirmation system for a cash-on-delivery market, fully automated through WhatsApp conversational flows, including a migration from YAML-driven to database-driven use cases.
- Led an AI-driven flow that validated addresses against customers’ previous orders to increase automated order confirmation.
- Led AI-first delivery by building features with Claude Code and coaching engineers on AI-assisted workflows, architecture, and code review.
Principal Backend Engineer
A tech company building data science solutions for the mining industry, including models that track and analyze stockpile data. The models’ output wasn’t easy for customers to reach in real time. Oriol was responsible for the backend and the API integration for these models, and built a service that streams live model data (Java, Spring, Node.js, TypeScript, Kafka, Apache Flink, PostgreSQL on GCP and Azure). The new service helped the company win new customers.
- Built and deployed a new service that serves live data from the stockpile model, which helped the company win new customers.
- Built the API integration layer that connects the data science models to the product.
- Led backend development and growth of the stockpile applications.
- Set up real-time data processing with Apache Kafka and Apache Flink. [перевір, що саме він робив]
- Defined backend technical roadmaps and mentored engineers.
Software Engineering Lead
A global automotive engineering and testing company that needed internal and customer-facing software to run its work: a homologation tool, a proving-ground management system and a customer portal. Oriol led development across these products, growing the department to 25+ engineers and reorganizing it into 5 agile teams
- Managed 25+ engineers across several development teams.
- Restructured the department into 5 agile teams of 3–4 engineers each and introduced engineering best practices.
- Led development of the vehicle homologation tool, which manages the certification process for vehicles.
- Led development of the proving-ground management system for test track operations.
- Led development of the customer portal for the company’s engineering clients.
