Experience Highlights

Staff Full-Stack Engineer
Oct 2022 - May 20263 years 6 months
Project Overview

An internal engineering platform, similar to Jira, that powered development workflows for a large-scale network operating system used by hundreds of internal engineers. It unified fragmented code-review and developer workflows across GitHub, Gerrit, Perforce, and internal tools into a single system, with real-time tracking, event-driven processing, automated CI/CD and integration-testing gates, and a modern web interface for end-to-end workflow management.

Responsibilities:
  • Led modernization of a legacy contractor-built Angular system into a modern React stack, and drove the JavaScript-to-TypeScript migration;
  • Owned a major cross-team initiative to unify fragmented workflows across 6 code-review ecosystems, driving it from user research and scoping through architecture and UX design to full signoff across 30+ engineers, then into a roadmap spanning 3 quarters;
  • Designed and implemented a large-scale event-driven architecture in Go and Kafka to reliably process 20+ code-review and metadata event types, hardened against message loss during database switchover, catastrophic Kafka outages, single points of failure, partition ordering, and clock drift;
  • Extended the system across React/TypeScript, Python, and Go services, including schema changes, backward-compatible migrations, a code-generation framework, and infrastructure spanning Helm/Kubernetes, Argo CD, and Zuul/Jenkins pipelines;
  • Built local and cloud-based integration test environments that simulated production-like Kafka clusters (Kafka, ZooKeeper, Schema Registry, databases) via Docker-in-Docker to enable Jenkins-based code-review gates;
  • Introduced contract testing with Pact as a new org-wide engineering paradigm, built the supporting CI/CD and infrastructure from the ground up, and drove adoption through step-by-step guides and weekly office hours;
  • Designed and built a code-generation framework from Swagger/OpenAPI schemas (Jinja, pydantic) to auto-generate contract-testing scaffolding and shared seed/mock data across JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, and Go;
  • Served as the org's go-to Kafka/Debezium expert, authoring runbooks, low-level architecture diagrams, and ongoing support channels;
  • Prototyped a replacement for a manual, error-prone release spreadsheet, secured it as an official roadmap investment, and owned the full product lifecycle through rollout;
  • Led a critical production backfill migration across 2M+ records, splitting rollout into 10 staged phases with reversible checkpoints and resolving concurrency issues;
  • Authored frontend engineering best practices, debugged subtle deployment failures and flaky end-to-end tests, and mentored engineers.

Staff Front-End Engineer

Project Overview

A large-scale frontend modernization effort for a collaborative work-management SaaS product used by enterprise teams. It focused on migrating a contractor-built 2M-line vanilla JavaScript monorepo to a modern React and TypeScript single-page application architecture, while re-architecting the codebase across multiple repos and business domains, designing a universal integration pattern, and rebuilding one of the product’s most valuable features without disrupting production.

Responsibilities:
  • Led the modernization of a contractor-built 2M-line vanilla JavaScript monorepo into a React/TypeScript single-page application architecture;
  • Defined the re-architecture and incremental migration strategy to split the monorepo into multiple repos across organizations and teams without disrupting production;
  • Architected a scalable, universal integration pattern across business domains, with expandable data structures designed to support different data models;
  • Led and mentored a team of 5 junior frontend engineers to rebuild one of the product’s most valuable features from scratch;
  • Introduced abstraction layers that decoupled the new architecture from tightly coupled legacy APIs and monorepo dependencies, enabling isolated development and testing and increasing development speed 5x.

Project Overview

Fast-paced, R&D-oriented development of enterprise identity and access platforms, user onboarding, and internationalization across web and mobile in a security-critical environment. Focused on secure onboarding and account setup for tens of millions of users worldwide, an identity control center for enterprise administrators, and the authentication, authorization, and MFA frameworks behind core payroll products used by thousands of companies globally.

Responsibilities:
  • Led frontend development of new user onboarding and account-setup workflows across web and mobile for 30M+ users worldwide;
  • Was promoted to tech lead for a 10+ engineer team building an identity control center serving 20K+ enterprise users;
  • Led internationalization for client-critical web experiences, making the platform available across 140+ countries;
  • Named inventor on 3 granted patents for proprietary authentication, authorization, and MFA architecture and frameworks across web and mobile, adopted across core products supporting payroll for 15,000+ companies worldwide;
  • Delivered enterprise identity solutions in a fast-paced, experimental innovation lab, applying cutting-edge open-source technologies in a security-critical, industry-leading domain;
  • Became the main point of contact for client-critical identity workflows and architecture, regularly presenting development progress and research findings to weekly leadership conferences;
  • Mentored 10+ junior, mid-level, and senior engineers and authored a frontend best-practices playbook that raised engineering standards across the team;
  • Architected a companywide end-to-end testing framework validating critical workflows — login, account creation, password reset, and account settings — across IE and major browsers;
  • Automated Jenkins build and test pipelines to ensure regression coverage, release quality, and continuous delivery.
